The Outlook NewspaperPosted: 05/04/2011
Caserma Ederle is a small community. It is fairly easy to know what is going on with little effort. Walking to offices around the post is easy. However, it is nice to have a place to go to learn about local news, services and events.
The Outlook is the newspaper for Caserma Ederle and Camp Darby. Each week The Outlook comes out on Thursday. Locations around post have copies of the paper. As with many military newspapers, it is FREE!
The paper covers many human interest stories. Camp Darby always has a dedicated section. In many aspects, The Outlook resembles a small town newspaper from the United States.
My favorite section is “Out and About.” This section lists many of the festivals, concerts and exhibits happening around Vicenza and the outlying villages. This section is great for finding ways to really experience local Italian life. Last weeks issue listed events ranging from a medieval festival to an acoustic guitar festival. If you can’t find something to do on the weekends, this section will sure inspire you!
The “Community Briefs” section is pretty helpful as well. Organizations around post list regularly scheduled and special events. This section has come in handy when the details of a given event slip my mind.
One last word on this newspaper. It is available online. No need to kill trees, just read The Outlook from your computer instead!
